Zakary Zarichney, MSW, RSW, RCC

Clinical Lead – Currents Clinical Counselling, Salmon Arm & Langford/Victoria
Individuals / Couples & Families / EMDR & IFS / Assessments

Zakary is a Registered Social Worker and Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Social Work degree. He works with individuals, couples, and families, providing personalized support grounded in evidence-based and holistic approaches. Zakary is trained in Level 1 Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and integrates IFS alongside EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and complex relational concerns.

Zakary has completed specialized training in narcissistic and antagonistic relational abuse, including the complex emotional and psychological effects these dynamics can have on individuals and families. He has also completed Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy training and has training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). These approaches inform his work with attachment, communication, emotional safety, conflict, relational ruptures, and rebuilding trust.

Zakary has also participated in relationship and intimacy training. This training has strengthened his ability to support clients exploring desire, intimacy, infidelity, and changing relationship dynamics. His practice is inclusive and affirming of diverse relationship structures, including ethical non-monogamy (ENM), consensual non-monogamy, and open relationships.

As a Métis clinician and a strong advocate for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, Zakary practises from an anti-oppressive, affirming, and non-pathologizing framework. He considers each client’s mental, physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being while honouring the broader cultural and systemic contexts influencing their experiences.

Zakary has a particular interest in understanding relationship dynamics and supporting clients navigating high-conflict relationships, narcissistic or antagonistic abuse, intimacy concerns, infidelity, betrayal, separation, and divorce. He strives to create a welcoming environment characterized by authenticity, transparency, warmth, compassion, and collaboration. Clients can expect a judgment-free space where they can explore their emotions, patterns, and experiences while developing a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships.

With more than five years of clinical experience, Zakary is committed to supporting clients as they move toward healing, greater self-understanding, and meaningful change.

Zakary currently offers virtual appointments and limited in-person availability in Salmon Arm. He will be relocating to Langford, BC, in September 2026, where he will offer virtual services and limited in-person appointments.
